Who Should be the Villain in the new Aquaman Movie?

Hello fellow moviegoers!

So as time goes on and we get closer and closer to the big kick-off of the DCCU with Batman v Superman, it is starting to become about the time to talk about the already announced DC movies that follow. One of which includes probably one of the most underrated comic-book characters out there, Aquaman. As you may know, Aquaman is by far one of the most ridiculed superheroes to ever exist. He is often the punchline to any joke about DC and he is actually a pretty great character! He does more than just talk to fish!!! Now that he is finally getting his own movie, who should be used as the villain to really set the tone of this great character?
A lot of people will automatically jump straight to the most well-known Aquaman villain, Black Manta, and for good reason. He is the arch-enemy of Aquaman, and he is a great villain. He could really bring another level of needed awesomeness to this film. But if it was up to me, I would save Manta for a sequel. You don't want to put your best villain in the first movie of your franchise, because then how do you live up to that in future installments? (A few examples of superhero franchises that knew better and saved/are saving the big baddie for a sequel are; The Dark Knight, The Avengers, and Man of Steel) Black Manta would be cool to see in an Aquaman film, no doubt. But now right away.

But if Black Manta is going to be saved for a sequel, who then do you get for the first film? I would definitely go with Orm Marius, otherwise known as Ocean Master. Ocean Master would be a brilliant choice for the first film because it would bring another emotional level to the Aquaman character. The fact that Orm and Arthur are brothers would be a very interesting aspect added into the film. It would kind of resemble the Thor/Loki relationship from the MCU. Ocean Master is not only one of the best Aquaman villains out there, but one of the best comic-book villains in general. Another reason that using Orm would be a great idea, is because he is a part of the New-52 origin of Aquaman. DC really looks like they want to stick close to the New-52 stories with their movies, so it would just make sense! Also, if they set it up right, he could be the villain of the second Justice League film. (Remember, the first comes out in 2017, while Aquaman isn't until 2018) If the Aquaman movie sets him up correctly, it could very easily turn into the Throne of Atlantis story-line for Justice League 2. I don't know about you guys, but I think seeing that story come to the big screen would be AMAZING!!

But, who do you cast as this great adversary to Jason Momoa's Aquaman? He would need to be a tough looking dude, preferably with a deep voice, who can pull off a being a king. Who do we know that fits that image perfectly? Richard Armitage. For those of you who don't know, Richard Armitage played Thorin Oakenshield in the recent Hobbit trilogy. I personally believe Armitage would be a perfect fit for Ocean Master. Not only does he have the experience needed, but he is also a very good actor. I can just picture Armitage and Momoa now, being a pair of half-brothers who have the need to face each other in battle. How cool would that be?!

But what do you think? Do you agree that the Aquaman film should use Ocean Master as it's villain? Do you think Richard Armitage would do a good job in that role? If not, who would you cast? Let me know by commenting on this post!
