Hello fellow moviegoers!
A little while ago Sony Pictures announced that they would be working on a new biopic with Aaron Sorkin (Moneyball, The Social Network) set to pen the project. After that we learned that Academy Award winner Danny Boyle would direct the movie. This now has a lot of people wondering, who could play the iconic godfather of Apple? For a few weeks it was rumored that Sony was going after actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio to take on the role. While that would have been great, it was later covered up by another rumor stating Christian Bale would play the character. He was rumored for a little while until it was officially confirmed by Sony that he would become Steve Jobs in their new biopic. They also announced around the same time that Seth Rogen would be joining the film to play Steve Wozniak. After that, everything looked fine and dandy for the new Jobs movie . Everything was great! Until a few weeks later, Bale left the project. This move definitely put a damper on some people's attitude towards the project, including mine. Bale claims he did not feel like the right man to play Jobs. Other people seem to think he left for other reasons such as, he did not like Seth Rogen playing Wozniak, or that he did think the screenplay was any good. The truth is, we don't know why he bailed. But you would think that he would consider if he was "the right man" to play Jobs before he accepted the role... Recent rumors are suggesting that Sony is targeting two Oscar nominees to join the movie. The rumors say that Jessica Chastain, and Michael Fassbender are now attached to star in this new Steve Jobs film. While it is still unknown who Chastain would play, Fassbender would be taking on the title role. While I think Fassbender would make a good Steve Jobs, I would prefer DiCaprio or Bale. I like him as an actor but he doesn't fit the role quite like the other two do. Personally I like the idea of this new biopic, especially if it is true that it only contains three scenes that are reveals of different products. I think it is a clever twist on the typical Oscar bait movie. Yes, it is appropriate to call this movie Oscar bait because the three stars they have targeted for Jobs are all Oscar nominees, with one of them being a winner. So while, it is easy to see that Sony is just jumping the Oscar train with this movie, I can't help but be excited to see it. What do you think about this new Steve Jobs biopic? Do you think Fassbender would make a good Jobs, or would you prefer someone else? Let me know by commenting on this post! Thanks for stopping by! |
