Hello, fellow moviegoers! We are only three weeks away from Captain America: Civil War at this point, and that means that in only three short weeks Tom Holland’s new take on Spiderman will have been unveiled to the world. So, I’d like to take this chance to give my thoughts on him, pre-Civil War viewing. So, with the recent announcement of the standalone Spiderman film’s title, what do I think this new Spiderman will mean for the future of the MCU? Personally, I’m not a big fan of the character of Spiderman. However, I do understand why a lot of people love Peter Parker with a passion. That being said, I am really excited to see Tom Holland’s take on the character. This is the youngest version of Spiderman we’ve ever seen on the big screen, and that seems to be directly taken from the source material in the comics. However, I wasn’t a big fan of the way they revealed him in the last Civil War trailer. I admire the fact that they wanted to go more retro with the character but, I thought the tiny spider-logo looked very poor on screen. Also, I don’t understand why everyone was freaking out. He just showed up and said “Hey Everyone”. That was it. I honestly cannot comprehend why two words set the entire internet ablaze. I’m sure he will be a great Spiderman, but people need to look at him from a critical point of view, and not just love it because it’s Spiderman. This past week Sony unveiled at CinemaCon the official title for the new Spiderman film hitting theaters in July of 2017. The new Spiderman film under the banner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially named Spiderman: Homecoming. In my personal opinion, that is an absolutely atrocious title. People are getting paid huge amounts of money to come up with these names, and they came up with Spiderman: Homecoming. Really? People online have been defending the title saying that it’s a reference to Spiderman officially being back at Marvel (even though he really isn’t). While that very well may be, that doesn’t mean that it’s not a stupid title. I understand this is a younger Spiderman, but I really don’t want to see Spiderman at the Homecoming dance. I have a feeling that this new film will very much be in the Young-Adult genre. It feels like it’ll be some weird hybrid of the Hunger Games and Paper Towns. That’s something I’m not looking forward to. Even though I am hesitant about Tom Holland’s Spiderman, and I think the new Spiderman film is shaping up to be less than spectacular; all of these opinions could change when I see Captain America: Civil War on May 6th. If early word is to be believed, Tom Holland is fantastic as Spiderman. For all we know, Spiderman: Homecoming could be the best film ever put the screen. We’ll just have to wait and see. So what do you think about Tom Holland’s Spiderman? Do you like the new title Spiderman: Homecoming? Let me know by commenting on this post!
