Hello, fellow moviegoers!

The Fate of the Furious is directed by F. Gary Gray, and it stars Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Charlize Theron, and Michelle Rodriguez. It is the eighth film in the mega-popular Fast and Furious franchise. In this adventure, Dom’s team must face their biggest challenge yet, Dom. For reasons unknown to the team, Dominic Toretto has gone rogue and started working with an international hacker known as Cipher.
The Fate of the Furious is a really fun over-the-top action movie that doesn’t bring anything new to the franchise. If you’re a fan of the Fast and the Furious franchise, then you’ll most likely love this movie. It has the crazy action sequences, the cheesy dialogue, and the messages about family that have become a staple of the franchise.
The best thing about this film is the immense amount of fun. There are a lot of moments in this film where the action is so ridiculously over-the-top that I actually started laughing in the theater. This franchise has become one of the biggest examples of a fun action series to date, and The Fate of the Furious carries that mantle well. Watching this film, you don’t think a lot about the plot or character arcs, you’re there to see the insane car races and fight scenes, and in that sense, this film delivers in full.
The cast in this film is as decent as usual, the supporting cast of Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, and Nathalie Emmanuel are all used to these roles, so there’s nothing really new in their performances. Vin Diesel has embraced his character of Dom He knows how to take that character in whatever direction is needed, so naturally, he gave a pretty good performance in the film. The best performances in this film undoubtedly came from Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. They both embodied the absurdness of this franchise and built on it. Getting to see those two acting opposite each other in a film like this was incredibly fun.
The thing that held this film back was its length. This film is well over two hours long, and that was way too long. This film should’ve been about twenty minutes shorter. It’s not like some long movies where you don’t know what to cut, there were a bunch of scenes in this film, particularly in the middle, that weren’t entirely necessary. If those scenes had been cut, the length of the film would’ve been much more bearable. Unfortunately, they weren’t, and it really slowed the film down.
There isn’t a whole lot to say about The Fate of the Furious because it is exactly what it looks like from the trailers. It’s an over-the-top action movie with a mediocre plot and some great action scenes. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham were both great in their roles, and they made the film significantly more entertaining when they were on-screen. This film was way longer than it needed to be, but it was still a lot of fun. This is far from being a “great film”, but it was one that you can have a lot of fun with.
