Hello fellow moviegoers!
Have you ever been hanging out with friends or family and someone brings up the question, "What are your're top 5 (or any number) movies?". Then someone goes on to list not their Top 5 Best but their Top 5 Favorite. This happens a lot more than some people may think so I am going to clear the air. Best Movies are the movies that have the great stories, acting, directing, shots, etc. etc. For example, movies like The Godfather, Lincoln, The Lord of the Rings, and Argo. Movies that you can sit down, and have them move you emotionally, movies that really inspire awe and make you think "Wow, these guys are talented!". Favorite movies are those that you LOVE while knowing that they may not be up there with The Godfather in quality. Other people may love them just as much as you do, others may hate the movie but you don't care, because you enjoy it. Movies commonly called "Guilty Pleasures" can also be called Favorites. Guilty Pleasures are the movies that no matter which way you look at it, you know deep inside that it is terrible, but you still enjoy it immensely. For example, one of my guilty pleasures is 2013's "The Lone Ranger". While I know that the movie may not be the best, I can't help but be entertained by it even though I may be the only one. I hope this was helpful to anyone that may be reading this. Now, go out and when you are having this conversation next, keep an ear out and make sure people are using the correct terms! Thanks for stopping by! |
