Hello fellow moviegoers! The Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansen, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany, and James Spader. It is a sequel to 2012’s The Avengers which broke box-office records, and made comic-book fans around the globe cheer for joy. Age of Ultron definitely has a lot going for it. But does it really live up to the hype? This film is without a doubt, the perfect way to kick off the Summer Movie Season! It is an awesome mix of action sequences that will make you want to stuff your face with popcorn, and down-to-earth characters that allow you to actually feel the stakes of what is going on. Age of Ultron grabs you’re attention right away with a fight scene that you do not want to be late for. So, show up early to get good seats! The fight scenes in this film are so well choreographed and directed, that you really can feel the might of all of these characters, and how well they work together as a team. You can really tell that The Avengers have had a lot of practice time between films. Speaking of the other films, Marvel definitely isn't afraid to tie this film to other Phase 2 films. Particularly Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with Anthony Mackie’s Falcon appearing and even mentioning their “Missing Persons Case”. Not only does it reference previous installments, but also lays the ground work for future films, such as next year’s Captain America: Civil War, and even Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 & 2, which don’t hit theatres until 2018! The chemistry that all of these cast members and their characters share is amazing! Director Joss Whedon knows these characters so well at this point that it is a little nerve-racking that he is not returning for the next installments. Everybody says that “A story is only as good as its villain”. Well, this film has quite a villain in James Spader’s Ultron. Not only is he smart, deceiving, and threatening, but he is also pretty funny! His humor completely surprised everybody in the theatre! But the good thing is, all of the jokes he told hit just right, and it did not got to the point that you weren't afraid of him. Every time that he is on-screen, there is a tension in the air because you never know what he is going to do! That is largely due to the way James Spader portrayed him. I cannot imagine any other voice with that robot. Everybody has been asking if this film is better than the first one. While some people have been saying no, I completely disagree. I liked this one just a smidge more. That doesn't mean the film doesn't have its flaws though. The biggest one was how rushed the actual creation of Ultron was. One minute they are trying to get this artificial intelligence to work, and the next they are getting attacked by one of Tony’s iron man suits. It doesn't build up any emotion with the character, so towards the end he kind of became a clichéd villain who just wants to destroy the world. It should still be noted that he is definitely one of the best villains MARVEL has put to screen. Also, towards the end in all of the big fights, it seemed like he kind of became an afterthought. It started to focus on the Avengers fighting as a team, rather than The Avenger fighting Ultron as a team. It even goes so far that when (Spoiler Alert) Ultron bites the dust, you kind feel like he didn't really put up much of a fight on his own. Even with those flaws, this film is still fantastic! It is an awesome start to the summer movie season and is definitely one that everybody should check out! 9/10 So what did you think of Avengers: Age of Ultron? Did you like it more than the first one, or were you left wanting a little bit more? Let me know by commenting on this post!
