Hello fellow moviegoers! So, literally right as I was finishing up my post about the new Steve Jobs biopic, I got on twitter and saw this! Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now the official title for the new Star Wars movie set to hit theatres in December of next year! I love this title! It feels like a Star Wars title, not something someone just threw at a wall hoping it sticks! One of the things I love the most about this title is that their is no Episode VII in it. For the people that don't know, the original Star Wars trilogy were not called Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi. They were just Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and, The Return of the Jedi! They were renamed about the time that the prequels were announced for continuity. While I had not been born yet when the originals came out, I did grow up watching all 6 movies. I don't hate the prequels as much other people, I still say the prequels are the lesser of the two. Recently I have even taken to calling the originals by their first titles.
I am so happy that they are throwing back to the originals with the title excluding "Episode" all together. While I wouldn't have been upset if they left it, it is definitely a nice little touch. With every fact that comes out of this movie, it begins to feel more and more like the original trilogy! Which is everything I want out of this new movies! What do you think of the new title Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Comment below and let me know! Thanks for stopping by! |
