Hello, fellow moviegoers! 2016 is finally here! What could possibly be one of the best years in film ever, 2016 is going to be bringing us sequels to beloved films as well as plenty of new material to surprise us all. This year could very much be the most hyped up year I’ve seen. So, with that being said, here are Kruzereviews’ 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2016! ![]() 10. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t wowed by the first trailer to this film. Before that trailer, this film would have been higher on this list. But, that was only the first trailer and the film doesn’t release until November, so there is plenty of time for it to up my excitement level. The reason this film is even on this list is because of what it looks like on paper. It’s a prequel/spin-off of the Harry Potter franchise, written by J.K. Rowling herself, and starring Eddie Redmayne. That sounds absolutely fantastic! (No pun intended) ![]() 9. Hail, Caesar! Ok, ok. Confession time. I have not seen The Big Lebowski. (*gasp!) Before you get too upset, I will be watching it in the somewhat near future, definitely before this film comes out. One of my best friends will make sure that happens. So obviously, the fact that the Coen Brothers wrote and directed this film doesn’t cause me much excitement. I absolutely love the trailer to Hail, Caesar! , far more than I expected to. Similarly to many films on this list, the cast is a majority of the reason why. Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Dolph Lundgren, Tilda Swinton, Josh Brolin, and George Clooney all play roles in this film. Plus, it’s a kidnapping mystery film that takes place in the big bustling Hollywood industry? Yes, please. ![]() 8. The Nice Guys The Nice Guys looks like it could be one of the most fun films of the year. The trailer somewhat reminded me of Kingsman: The Secret Service, as far as the tone of the film goes. If this film is as good as Kingsman is, then we can expect and absolutely fabulous film. In my mind, I find an interesting accidental parallel between The Nice Guys and Kingsman. Both seem to be very similar in tone, as well as being fun over-the-top action films. To further add, both films are on my most anticipated of the year list (Kingsman was #6). Hopefully, this film winds up on my favorite films of the year list as well as Kingsman (which coincidentally, was also #6). ![]() 7. The Jungle Book Imagine this, a movie directed by Jon Favreau starring Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken, and Ben Kingsley. Excited yet? Now imagine that film being a live-action interpretation of The Jungle Book? If that doesn’t get your attention, I don’t know what will. The trailer for this movie looks amazing! The visual effects alone sold me on the film. They look fantastic! All of the animals look super-realistic. Also, the jungle looks so intriguing and mysterious. But then, it becomes so much more impressive when you discover that the whole thing was filmed in Los Angeles. I absolutely cannot wait to see this film! ![]() 6. Suicide Squad Before I made this list, I would have told you that Suicide Squad would be one of my Top Five Anticipated Films of 2016. Then, I looked at the list of films coming out this year, and Suicide Squad just barely missed that mark. There is absolutely no way you can’t be excited about this movie. Unless, of course, you don’t like superhero films. But this movie isn’t a superhero film. It’s a supervillain film featuring Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Ben Affleck as Batman. What better way for Warner Bros. to expand their DCEU (D.C. Extended Universe) because everybody knows D.C. has the better villains. HONORABLE MENTIONS With every list like this, there will undoubtedly be some films that get left off. While, they may not have cracked my top ten. These films definitely deserve to be mentioned.
![]() 5. Captain America: Civil War Marvel's newest film, Captain America: Civil War looks to be another great addition to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). We all know how amazing Captain America: The Winter Solider was. Now, the directors of that film are returning to somewhat adapt one of Marvel Comics most popular storylines. Captain America vs Iron Man. There is absolutely no way any other superhero vs superhero film could be better than that. Right? I feel like I’m forgetting something… Also, throw into that mix that we will be introduced to Tom Holland as our new Spiderman, and Chadwick Boseman as The Black Panther for the first time. Captain America, The Falcon, Iron Man, War Machine, Vision, Scarlett Witch, Ant-Man, Black Widow, and Hawkeye all return for this film. It’s basically Avengers: Captain America Edition. ![]() 4. Finding Dory What really needs to be said about this film other than “It’s a sequel to Finding Nemo”. The entire world, along with myself, has been buzzing about this film ever since it was announced. Finally! We’re getting a sequel to one of Pixar’s best films! Finding Dory definitely deserves to be on everybody’s radar. What makes this film even better is the fact that Ellen DeGeneres returns to voice Dory, Albert Brooks returns as Marlin, and newcomers Idris Elba, Diane Keaton, and Ty Burrel will be voicing more creatures under the sea. ![]() 3. Deadpool Half of the reason Deadpool is even on this list is because of the marketing. Deadpool’s marketing campaign is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The video Ryan Reynolds posted on Halloween combined with the 12 Days of Deadpool and the way they choose to announce everything is definitely a recipe for success. Deadpool definitely isn’t your average superhero movie. You won’t see parents bringing little Timmy to see this film. No. Deadpool is a superhero film made for the fans. Not only does this film look hilarious, but Ryan Reynolds charisma and the way Deadpool is known to talk to the audience Ferris Bueler style makes this film easily one of my most anticipated. ![]() 2. Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One When I first made a rough draft of this list about a month ago, this film was number four. Then a little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out and was my favorite film of the year. I’m not going to try and explain this movie because that would take a good section of its own post (Hey look at that!) Just know that this is a Star Wars film, and there really isn’t much else to be said because…Star Wars. ![]() 1. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Once upon a time, I was excited about Batman v Superman. Then the first trailer came out, and the second one. Now, well you might say that I’m losing my mind over it. While the most recent trailer did reveal a little too much, it’s still Batman and Superman. I remember a couple years ago at Comic-Con when they announced this movie was coming; I had a solid smile on my face for a week, and I wasn’t even there. I was sitting at home on my laptop reading about it. Ben Affleck looks like the Dark Knight we’ve always wanted to see, Henry Cavill looks great as Superman (as he did in Man of Steel), and this film is further expanded the DCEU. Marvel has met its first real competition with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Well, there you have it, Kruzereviews’ 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2016!
