Justice League Movie to Feature War with Atlantis (Rumor)

Hello, fellow moviegoers!
As people around the world are now in theaters seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, hype for the Justice League film has really started to pick up steam. Many are assuming that the villain of the film will be DC’s big baddie Darkseid. Well, a new rumor going around might be suggesting otherwise.
(MINOR BATMAN V SUPERMAN SPOILERS AHEAD)
According to El Mayimbe (Heroic Hollywood) on his Youtube Podcast Heroic Insider, the conflict in the Justice League might be between Atlantis and the “Surface”. So what might this conflict entail? Is this the right direction to go? Here’s what I think. You can find his direct words below.

"Supposedly, in Justice League, it’s like a conflict with Atlantis. Or a war with Atlantis, early on in the movie.” ….. “So supposedly they (Batman and Wonder Woman) go down to Atlantis but Aquaman is not having any of it. And on top of that, the Amazonians and the Atlanteans do not get along. They have like a thousand-year conflict with something.”
While he does mention that this conflict might happen earlier on in the film, you’d think a war with Atlantis would deserve to have its own story. Right? Well, it’s actually happened before, pretty recently too! In late 2012, Geoff Johns wrote the comic-book story Throne of Atlantis which very heavily featured a war between the Surface World and Atlantis. It even received the animated film treatment in 2015 as Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. It’s a fantastic story and one that would work very well if given the live-action big screen treatment.
If the Throne of Atlantis storyline were to be the plot for the Justice League film, it would be a very organic way to forward the DC Cinematic Universe. We know that Batman and Wonder Woman are working on forming the Justice League. If there is a feud between the Amazonians and Atlanteans, Wonder Woman accompanying Batman to Atlantis would definitely be cause for conflict. Especially if there is a third party pulling strings. Spoiler alert. There is.
Aquaman is considered among many non-comic book readers to be kind of a joke character. Those of us who read his newer material and have played Injustice: Gods Among Us, know that Aquaman is one of the most badass characters that Warner Bros and DC have in their arsenal. The Throne of Atlantis story would introduce him into the DCEU in a big way. Making audiences take Aquaman seriously has to be a top priority for DC.
If what El Mayimbe says is true and this war happens earlier on in the film, there would still be room for Darkseid to come into play later on. Personally, I think that would be a big mistake. There would be a lot of great material that would have to be cut out of the Throne of Atlantis. Also, using Darkseid this early on would leave DC in quite a predicament. Where do you go after Darkseid? Let us not forget the rule of diminishing returns.

You can see El Mayimbe's podcast below. Skip to around 27:30 to see this conversation.
