Good Morning Vietnam Movie Review

Hello fellow moviegoers!
So, I am still trying to watch as many movies as possible in my free time, and last night the movie that took that spot was 'Good Morning Vietnam'.
'Good Morning Vietnam' follows a radio-host (Robin Williams) and his experience being brought out to Vietnam during the middle of war to host a military radio. Due to a mix of his silly humor, and the music and news reports he is broadcasting, he quickly gets on the wrong side of his superiors.
I was pretty excited to watch this movie. I went in expecting it to great! I came out thinking it was just good. I enjoyed this movie. Just not as much as I thought I would. I have only ever heard good things about this movie. I think I heard so many good things, that my expectations were too high. But don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the movie.
The pacing of this movie, was definitely something that threw me off. The movie starts off, and really doesn't have any build up. I would have liked to actually see where he was before Vietnam, rather that just hear about it. Learn more about why he is there, rather than just have him be thrown into his first broadcast within the first 5 minutes. After that the pacing seemed to even out a bit, until it really slowed down about half-way through. I found myself pretty bored in that time period. But then, after a little while, it finally picked up again, and I found myself thoroughly entertained.
Robin Williams performance in this movie is awe-inspiring. When watching this movie, I really didn't see Williams at all. There were a few times that I thought of The Genie when he was talking. But, I can't fault him for that, it's just the way he talks. Forrest Whitaker is also in this movie, and his performance is also brilliant.
So, overall, I enjoyed 'Good Morning Vietnam'. Just not as much as I thought I would. The pacing was off a little at times. But, the performances in it are marvelous. I would recommend it to Robin Williams fans, and people who enjoy movies set in the Vietnam War.
7/10
