Hello fellow moviegoers!
It's no doubt that one of the greatest actors of this generation is Andy Serkis. His work with motion capture in movies such as The Lord of the Rings, Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and The Adventure of Tintin, is extraordinary. But what is one thing that this amazing actor is missing? An Oscar nomination... His work in the previously mentioned movie is without a doubt incomparable to anyone else. If there is any actor in Hollywood right now that deserves an Oscar the most, it's him. Well it is nice to see that Fox is officially pushing him for a nomination this year. They are pushing him to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor as Caesar in this summer's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. While the official nominations obviously are not out yet. The Academy would be fools not to at least nominate him. His work in Hollywood has changed the way people look at acting. Andy Serkis is phenomenal. One thing that kind of bothers me though is that fact that they are pushing him for a Supporting role not a Lead. Which Serkis is very obviously the lead in POTA. It seems like they are not confident enough that he will get a nomination. In fact, they are so in-confident that they say he is a "supporting" role when he isn't. I think it is disrespectful not only to Serkis, but to other supporting actors to put him in that category. But that't just me. While I am excited that they are pushing Andy Serkis for an Oscar nomination, I do think they are going about it the wrong way. All I have to say now is, it's up to the Academy... Do you think Andy Serkis is going to get an Oscar Nomination this year? Do you agree that it should be a "Supporting" role or not? Let me know by commenting on this post! Thanks for stopping by! |
