Hello, fellow moviegoers! Some movie trailers simply aren’t worth your time. You see it, it looks bad, the movie comes and goes, and nobody goes to see it. It usually goes something like that. To save you the time of having to search for the latest trailers that actually look good, here are my reviews for the most recent movie trailers for you to check out! ![]() Star Trek Beyond-Official Trailer This trailer for the highly anticipated new Star Trek film was loads of fun. The little bit of story that was given seemed like it will make for another great Star Trek film. Idris Elba sounds great as the main antagonist. He may also look great. I don’t really know as the trailer was not specific as to whether he was an alien or not. While I enjoyed the musical choice in the trailer, it was a blatant rip-off of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Which would make sense as the studio has been quoted as saying they want this new Star Trek film to be similar to GOTG. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that Star Trek, one of the biggest franchises in the world, wants to copy a series that nobody had even heard of five years ago. ![]() Eddie the Eagle Official Trailer Based on this trailer, I would be willing to say that Eddie the Eagle has the potential to be one of the best films of next year. The story this film is trying to tell isn’t anything new. Somebody has a goal they want to achieve, people want to stop them, and they persevere despite all odds. It’s something we’ve seen plenty of times before. But this film looks like it adds a little something more to that. The cast assembled for this film is fantastic. Taron Egerton (made famous by his lead for in 2015’s Kingsman: The Secret Service) looks like he gives an amazing performance. This film goes to show that he really has a lot of talent beyond the action-packed film that was Kingsman. Hugh Jackman, well, he was Hugh Jackman. He looks awesome in this; similar to the way that he looks great in everything. ![]() Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Announcement Trailer Originally, I was disappointed by this first trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I suppose that is because we’ve all grown used to the first official trailer for a major film being full of spectacle. This trailer is much more subtle, which will work out in the long run. The mysterious vibe to this trailer really intrigues me. This film doesn’t release until November, so the purpose of this trailer was simply to let people know that this movie is coming. It wasn’t trying to get everybody super-hyped because then they would grow tired by the time the film releases. This announcement trailer gives the very basic plot, and lets you know that Fantastic Beasts is a Harry Potter film (sort of), then it ends when it gets you interested. It got the audience curious and left them waiting for more. Isn’t that supposed to be the point of an announcement trailer? ![]() Zootopia Trailer #2 I was very curious about this film until I saw this trailer. Now, I am full-out excited! This trailer was great! The world that Disney is building in Zootopia looks like one that we are going to love visiting time and time again. Each bit in this trailer was creative in its own way. The DMV being sloths, the “naturalist” animals, and even the callback to The Godfather at the end all felt like a home-run by Disney. Just like Eddie the Eagle, this plot is nothing new. Somebody has a goal they want to achieve, people want to stop them, and they persevere despite all odds. It’s literally the exact same. But Zootopia, just like Eddie the Eagle, is going about it in a whole new way. I cannot wait for Zootopia, and it deserves to be on everybody’s radar. ![]() Deadpool Trailer #2 This second trailer for Deadpool is just as hilarious and memorable as the first one. First off, the lead up to this trailer was great. The whole "12 Days of Deadpool" leading up to the release of the trailer on Christmas was a brilliant idea. The marketing for this film has been some of the best I’ve ever seen. All of the one-liners in this trailer hit exactly the way they were supposed to. Bringing in Colossus to show that Deadpool is a part of the X-Men universe was a fantastic idea. If the actual film is anywhere near as good as the marketing makes it look, we’re going to have a wonderful new superhero film on our hands. So there you have it.
