Hello fellow moviegoers! Daredevil is a Netflix exclusive TV series produced by Marvel Studios. It is the story of Matt Murdock who is a lawyer by day and a vigilante by night. The kicker is, when he was only 9 he was blinded in a chemical accident, which also heightened his all of his other senses. So much so, that he can tell when people are lying to him simply by listening to their heartbeat. This show has so much potential. But is it really worth a whole 13 hours of your time? While Daredevil does exist within the lighthearted Marvel Cinematic Universe, this show is definitely a lot darker than anything else Marvel has released so far. Even earning itself a TV-MA rating. So to sum it up, don't watch this show with your kids. I had decently high expectations for this show and it completely surprised me by how good it is! The way they are able to portray this man, who may or may not be completely there mentally, is incredible! One of the things I discovered while watching this show is that some of the episodes almost don't show Daredevil at all. They are all about building up the characters of Matt, and his friends Foggy and Karen. The thing that was great about these episodes is that these characters are so good that you almost don't notice Daredevil is not there! It was great! It takes really talented people to keep hardcore superhero fans entertained without even showing the hero! Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) was one of the things that kept this series consistently great! The way he portrayed this man, who may not be the biggest social butterfly, was very interesting. I found that I enjoyed the story behind Fisk much more interesting than I initially expected. They kind of even make you feel bad for the guy at times. If you do decide to watch this show (which you definitely should), keep in mind that it is extremely violent. If you cannot handle the sight of arms and legs being broken, or even people being decapitated, you might not like this show. But if you can get passed all of that, I think everyone will thoroughly enjoy it. This show also gives you a little bit of insight into the life of a blind-person. I learned things about being blind in this show, that I had never known before. So props to Marvel for actually portraying his blindness realistically (for the most part) and not just having him say he's blind, but act and show the mannerisms that come with being blind. So overall, this show is fantastic! If you are a fan of darker more realistic superheroes than this show is definitely for you! It gives you a taste of the darker side of the MCU, while also keeping it within the realm of realism. I can't wait for Season 2! 9/10 So what do you think of Daredevil? Was it too violent for you, or do you think it was one of the best things that Marvel has done yet? Let me know by commenting on this post!
