'Central Intelligence' Movie Review

Hello, fellow moviegoers!
There are very few actors and actresses that are truly movie stars in modern Hollywood. Nowadays, it takes more than just a popular name to get people into the theater, at least, for the most part. There are still a few true movie stars out there. One of them is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Central Intelligence stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Hart. When Calvin Joyner (Hart)'s  former classmate Bob Stone (Johnson) comes to him for help on a secret CIA case, he'll get sucked into the middle of a plot in which he has absolutely no idea what is going on. He doesn't know who he can trust or what he should do. So is Central Intelligence a fun summer movie?

Central Intelligence is, in my opinion, the definition of a fun summer action-comedy. Carried mostly by the chemistry between "The Rock" and Hart, it is a really entertaining time at the movies. While it isn't perfect by any means, anybody can have fun with this film.
The humor in this film is one piece of the puzzle that makes this film what it is. There are so many scenes in this film that had the entire audience in the theater laughing hysterically. It'd be hard not to laugh at least once when watching Central Intelligence. That being said, there were a few jokes here and there that didn't really connect very well.  They came off as more awkward and forced rather than funny. Although, that was a minority of the jokes. Most of them hit the audience pretty well.
Truly the best part of this film is its two leads. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart worked incredibly well together in this film. The chemistry between the two of them made for a fantastic comedy duo. Not only did they make the film enjoyable, but you could tell that they had fun while they were making it, which only added to the experience for the audience.
The plot in this film was where it fell apart a little bit. The plot was pretty by the numbers. A civilian gets caught up in a top-secret government mission, and they don't really know what to do, but eventually they learn how to be a secret agent and eventually they save the day. That's about it. While Central Intelligence does take a slightly different approach than that, it's pretty much the same. Several major plot points could be and were predicted from miles away. However, there was one big thing that they managed to keep the audience guessing about and that was where Johnson's character truly sided on the issue. You didn't really know. You weren't sure if this was a guy that could be trusted or not, and they kept it that way until the end when they answered that question. While I won't spoil anything, it did keep the audience intrigued and curious to see where they would go.
Finally, one big standout of this film was the action sequences. This film is a testament to how big a movie star "The Rock" is and why he is that way. His action scenes were fantastic. Plus, they were infused with just enough humor to make the audience laugh during them. While they weren't big, long, epic action scenes like the battle on last night's Game of Thrones, they were entertaining enough to make the experience enjoyable for the audience.
Central Intelligence is not a perfect movie by any means. The plot was a little weak and some of the jokes didn't work, but for the most part, this was a really entertaining movie. When I think of a good summer film, this is the type of movie that comes to mind. It's funny, action-packed, and the chemistry between "The Rock" and Kevin Hart was fantastic. If you are a fan of these two actors in any way, I think you'll find enjoyment in this film. I know I did.
