Hello fellow moviegoers!
Big Hero 6 is the latest movie from Disney Animation. It is also a Marvel property so, basically take the Avengers, fuse it with Wreck-It Ralph, and you get this movie! It features the voices of talented people like, Scott Adsit, Ryan Potter, Daniel Henney, and T.J. Miller. This movie takes place in a city called San Fransokyo, a hybrid of San Francisco and Tokyo. Big Hero 6 features the aptly named Hiro, a boy-genius, Baymax, a robot created by his older brother Tadashi, and a group of friends, who team up to become a superhero team. Their mission is to take down an unknown villain in a mask who is using one of Hiro's own inventions as a weapon.
This movie has been getting some great reviews. Do I agree with them? Undoubtedly, yes! This movie is great! The characters are completely developed and can each stand on their own. None of them really fuse together, which is a good thing! The powers they gain are also incredibly creative! If I had to choose any characters powers, it would probably be Go Go's. Also, I could not stop laughing when I saw Fred's costume and powers. Fred is definitely a character you need in a movie like this, to keep it's tone steady! Baymax definitely stole the show though. The amount of work it takes to make a character like this is immense! He is a loving, hug-able marshmallow, and a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. I think this character is up there with the greats of Disney Animated sidekicks!
I did have a couple minute problems with the film. At times, the story is pretty predictable, and it makes those emotional scenes less special. Something happens toward the beginning that my friend and I saw coming from the first couple of minutes. It would have been that much better if they set it up a little differently, so that that didn't happen. Also, why does the character that looks the least Asian have the heaviest accent? I know that it is kind of nit-picking at this point, but it took me out of the movie a little bit, so it should be mentioned. All of these can be forgiven though. The fun and enjoyment you get out of this movie is unparalleled. I noticed these flaws early on, and had almost completely forgotten about them by the end.
This movie is definitely a great family movie. Not only is it kid-friendly, but it also has things that adults can enjoy too. There are a few jokes hidden in there that will completely fly over kid's heads, but adults will pick up on right away. The score to this film is also wonderful. It just as fun and exciting as the movie itself! This is one of those movies that employees cleaning the theatres afterwards can jam out to. Trust me.
Overall, this movie is a great movie for the entire family. It does have a few minor flaws here and there, but nothing too major. It's characters are well developed and contrast each other brilliantly! Also, don't miss the after-credits soon that will surely make you smile! You should definitely see it as soon as you can. Make sure you see it with at least one other person though!
