Hello fellow moviegoers!
'Batman' stars Michael Keaton as Batman, and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. At the beginning of this movie Batman isn't really a known person around Gotham City yet, he is more of a myth than anything. Than he starts becoming more prominent and accidentally causes Jack Nicholson to fall into a vat of acid and become the Joker. Joker starts running a muck, and it is up to Batman to stop him. There are some really hardcore fans of this movie out there, who grew up watching it. Then there are the people that watched Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight' first and hated this movie after watching it later. I personally have seen Nolan's trilogy multiple times, and I just watched this movie for the first time this morning. What did I think? It was good. I don't think it is as amazing as some people say it is, but I don't think it is the complete pile of trash others claim. Jack Nicholson's Joker is really one of the standout parts of this film. At points you are in awe at the performance Nicholson gives in this role. At other times, he is dancing around awkwardly and you are left sitting there uncomfortably. So while I thought Nicholson's Joker was good, they kind of went too far wacky at times and it is just turned out silly. He is definitely no Heath Ledger. Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne is also good. Michael Keaton gave probably one of the best performances as Bruce Wayne I have seen. As Batman though, that is a different story. The character of Batman was just kind of a brick wall. I didn't really care much for him. He really didn't have any facial expressions, he didn't talk much, he basically just beat up, and scared criminals. I wanted more out of this Batman than that. The supporting characters sometimes felt like they were just thrown in their because they were in the comics. For example, Harvey Dent is in this movie, portrayed by Billy Dee Williams, he isn't really a big character and I feel like he didn't need to be there at all. And feel bad saying this, but the same goes for Commissioner Gordon. He didn't work with Batman, and he was only in couple of scenes. Overall this is a good movie, just not as good as I wanted it to be. The acting sometimes is a little too much or too little. But, nonetheless, it is a Batman movie, so you will find enjoyment out of it. 6.9/10 Have you seen this movie? Do prefer this or 'The Dark Knight'? Let me know by commenting on this post!
