Hello fellow moviegoers! So, as many of you may know, the first official trailer for Ant-Man came out last night, and it has a lot of people talking about it! Some people think it looks pretty dang good, others were....underwhelmed. Probably the thing that has most people excited is that fact that it is a Marvel film. So, does the trailer make it look like it lives up to the rest of the MCU? Here is what I think. There was a lot of excitement for the trailer premiere during the first episode of Agent Carter last night. I was a little nervous about this trailer. I was actually not that excited about Ant-Man. I'm not a big fan of the character so I wanted to see the way that they handled it. A lot of people out there really like the trailer, I however was kind of underwhelmed by it.
When the trailer first started, I was pretty into it. Michael Douglas's narration was really cool. I like how he was telling Scott to "earn that look in his daughter's eyes". I was actually getting pretty excited, but then it seemed like the tone just completely shifted and it really didn't work for me. Douglas was telling Scott about saving their kids world and that he needed to become the Ant-Man. Then Scott said said "Huh...". That's where the trailer lost me. The way he said that, just seemed comedic (which it was supposed to) but then the trailer kept trying to keep the tone it had already set. Then he jumped onto that flying bug and it just seemed really cheesy to me. There were certain things I liked though. Like I said earlier, I loved Hank Pym's narration. Also, I thought the line at the end was pretty funny. "Is it too late to change the name?". That was the one comedic part of the trailer that didn't seem out of place. The way the shrinking looked was also very cool. It did exactly what I wanted it to do and didn't make it too much. It was just what it needed to be. So overall, I was kind of underwhelmed by this trailer, I still somewhat liked it though. I have enough faith in Marvel at this point, that I believe it was just poor editing on the part of whoever made the trailer. The film will probably still be pretty good. So what did you think about the Ant-Man trailer? Are you over the moon about it, or were you underwhelmed like me? Let me know by commenting on this post! Thanks for stopping by! |
