Hello fellow moviegoers! Ant-Man is directed by Peyton Reed, and stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lily, Corey Stoll, and Michael Peña . The story follows Scott Lang (Rudd), a burglar recently released from jail, as he is taught by Hank Pym (Douglas), and Hope van Dyne how to use and control the Ant-Man suit, so they can go steal something from Darren Cross (Stoll). This movie has had a lot of trouble being produced. A lot of people don't realize that this movie was supposed to come out around the same time as the original Iron Man, with Edgar Wright directing. So was Marvel still able to make a great movie even though they had a lot of troubles with it? I am glad to say that Marvel has done it once again. They have created another incredibly entertaining superhero movie, while at the same time making it unique and different from anything they have done before. This is definitely Marvel's funniest movie to date. The credit for that can be given to director Peyton Reed who has previously directed movies such as Yes Man. One thing to keep in mind if you decide to go see this movie is that it is definitely not an action movie. It is actually a heist film. The main focus of the movie is the main characters prepping to go steal something from Darren Cross. There isn't actually a lot of action until the end of the movie. Although, there is one action scene towards the middle that is definitely enough to hold you over until then. One thing I really enjoyed about this movie is how it starts. It doesn't do the "typical thing" and have the logos of the companies that made it, maybe a little voiceover, etc. - NO, it jumps right into it! It actually caught me off guard a little bit! Michael Peña was definitely the biggest pleasant surprise to come out of this movie. From what I saw, they really didn't use him in the marketing. Which makes his jokes that much funnier, because you haven't seen them before in the trailers. I don't want to spoil one of the best parts about his character, but all I'll say is that the sequences when he is telling stories are hilarious! Ant-Man isn't perfect though. The villain in the movie, Yellowjacket, is yet another boring Marvel villain to blend in with the likes of Ronan the Accuser, Malekith, and whoever the villain even was in Iron Man 3. Also, there is one character in the movie who has a Russian accent, and I didn't think it was a very good one. Every time he would speak, it would take me out of the movie a little bit, and make me wonder "Why does he have an accent?". So, overall Ant-Man is another great Marvel movie to fit in so well amongst its predecessors. While not perfect, it's Marvel's funniest movie yet. The way they tied it into the bigger universe was very well done. I would definitely have to recommend Ant-Man to any superhero movie fans (even though you've probably already seen it) and anyone who is a fan of comedies in general! 8/10 What did you think of Ant-Man? Are you excited to see where they bring this character in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let me know by commenting on this post!
